For this Photoshop illustration project, I chose the NPR headline “Fighting AI With AI” and created a visual concept that personifies the conflict between deepfake tools and the detectors designed to stop them. I built two stick-figure opponents by duplicating, flipping, and resizing shapes, then added boxing gloves that I cropped, cleaned up with masking, converted to smart objects, and resized to fit each figure. This gave the scene a clear sense of confrontation while keeping the illustration simple and readable.
The biggest challenge was finding a way to show that the characters represented AI rather than people. After researching visual cues, I noticed that a four-point star is often used to signal something generated by artificial intelligence, so I created my own version using the polygon tool and used it as each figure’s head. A light blue background helped the shapes and gloves stand out while keeping the tone playful and clearly fantastical. The final piece uses multiple Photoshop techniques to communicate the headline in a clean, symbolic, and instantly recognizable way.
